Israeli Army Says Two Soldiers Injured in Southern Lebanon Drone Attack

(MENAFN) Two Israeli soldiers were wounded in a drone strike in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, according to the Israeli military, as tensions along the border continue to escalate.

In a statement, the army said Hezbollah launched explosive drones along with several rockets targeting Israeli forces operating in the area, resulting in injuries to two soldiers.

The military also said its air force intercepted what it described as a “hostile aerial target” launched from Lebanon before it crossed into Israeli airspace.

Hezbollah, for its part, said it carried out three separate attacks using drones and artillery shells.

The group said it targeted two gatherings of Israeli soldiers and a newly established command center in southern Lebanon.

The group said the attacks came “in defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to Israeli violations of the ceasefire and attacks targeting villages in southern Lebanon that resulted in civilian casualties.”

As stated by reports, despite a ceasefire announced on April 17 and later extended until May 17, Israeli forces continue to carry out daily strikes in Lebanon alongside widespread destruction of homes in multiple villages.

According to official figures cited in reports, Israeli attacks in Lebanon since March 2 have killed at least 2,704 people, wounded 8,311, and displaced more than 1.6 million residents, representing roughly one-fifth of the population.
