Four Explosions Reported in Iran's Qom Amid US-Israel Strikes

(MENAFN) At least four explosions rocked the outskirts of the holy Iranian city of Qom early Monday following reported US-Israeli strikes, an Iranian regional official confirmed, as a war now weeks old continues to exact a mounting human toll.

Qom Deputy Governor Morteza Heidari disclosed that two distinct areas on the city's periphery were struck, according to a report by media. The official did not provide any information regarding casualties or material damage.

The strikes mark the latest chapter in an offensive that Israel and the US jointly launched on Feb. 28, a campaign that has now killed more than 1,340 people — among them then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has refused to absorb the blows without response, unleashing retaliatory waves of drone and missile strikes against Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, inflicting casualties and infrastructure damage while sending shockwaves through global markets and aviation networks.

The bombing of Qom — one of Shia Islam's most sacred cities and a symbolic heart of the Iranian clerical establishment — signals a significant and potentially inflammatory escalation in the conflict's geographic and political scope.

No immediate claim of responsibility has been issued by Washington or Tel Aviv, and damage assessments from Monday's strikes remain unavailable as of the time of reporting.
